Ganlion began construction of its new Digital Platform for Intelligent Fabric R&D, Innovation and Testing on September 5. With a planned investment of RMB 40 million and approximately 2,100 square meters of floor space, the project will integrate digital research and development, intelligent testing and innovative sample development.

The new platform will strengthen the technical capabilities behind Ganlion’s functional fabrics—from process development and performance verification to consistency in bulk production. For customers, the investment is aimed at more dependable fabric quality and faster technical response.

Responding to Higher Expectations for Functional Fabrics

Fabric buyers increasingly expect reliable performance, environmental compliance and consistent quality across orders. They also need suppliers that can respond efficiently to new specifications and production challenges.

These expectations make research and testing essential to fabric development. A successful laboratory sample must translate into a repeatable production process, while test results must provide a dependable basis for evaluating the finished fabric.

Ganlion’s new platform is designed to strengthen this connection between innovation, verification and manufacturing.

Digital Tools and Intelligent Testing

The planned testing upgrade combines new equipment, digital operating support and improved laboratory conditions.

An intelligent sample-cutting system will support test preparation. Barcode-accessible operating instructions and automated test-data calculations will help reduce manual intervention and improve workflow consistency.

The laboratory layout will also be redesigned. Temperature- and humidity-controlled testing areas will be separated from ambient-condition testing, with dedicated rooms for precision weighing, light and weathering exposure, electrostatic testing, burning-behavior tests, and acid and alkali testing. A new chemical analysis laboratory will expand the facility’s analytical capabilities.

Building on Ganlion’s stated adherence to CNAS system requirements, the project will upgrade environmental controls, laboratory zoning and safety management. Once completed, it is expected to support more testing activities and broader coverage of Chinese, American and European standards.

Stronger Chemical Analysis for Fluorine-Free Fabric Development

The platform will include a planned LC-MS/MS instrument valued at more than RMB 3 million, supporting in-house analysis associated with fluorine-free functional fabrics.

This capability will bring chemical testing closer to the development process, helping technical teams evaluate materials and investigate relevant substances as they refine fabric solutions. It will also strengthen the analytical support available for customers’ environmental requirements.

For customers developing fluorine-free products, integrating R&D and chemical analysis will support more informed material selection and process decisions.

Connecting Fabric Innovation with Production

R&D activities at the new platform will focus on three priorities:

  • Upgrading fundamental processes and technical systems.
  • Optimizing existing manufacturing processes.
  • Developing emerging technologies for future functional fabrics.

Laboratory padding machines and ovens will be replaced with equipment selected to better reflect full-scale continuous production conditions. This will help teams evaluate processes under conditions closer to those used for commercial orders.

The R&D area will also be located near the production floor, allowing researchers and production teams to exchange feedback and address process issues more efficiently.

The objective is to reduce differences between laboratory samples and bulk production, helping customers move from fabric approval to repeat orders with greater consistency.

A Long-Term Investment in Fabric Quality

The new platform brings together smarter testing, expanded chemical analysis and production-focused development. Each element supports the same goal: turning technical progress into consistent fabric performance.

After completion, Ganlion will use the upgraded facilities to strengthen functional fabric development, improve quality verification and provide more responsive support throughout customer projects.
